What is soroban?
Soroban, the Japanese abacus, is a calculating tool used from the 14th century. It is known to be the first calculator in Japan and has played a significant role in the cultural and educational development.
Soroban will help students work on their mental calculation skills and will be beneficial to their STEM education.
Why Soroban?
Soroban will cover the “groups of 5” and “groups of 10” system in a very accelerated form. After a few months of soroban lessons, it is guaranteed that the students will be ahead of their class in math.
what are the benefits?
Additionally to gaining a strong sense in mental calculation & number relations, students will improve their concentration, confidence, discipline, and test taking skills.
Does it help with math at school?
Of course! In just a few months, you will see great progress in their math level. Some examples:
Preschool students who first struggled with counting up to 10 can now easily solve 3-digit addition & subtraction problems.
A 1st grade student learned addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in just 3 months.
What are the examinations?
The students will be tested at the end of each level. The examination will be administered in class with a required time limit. Once the student passes the exam, he/she can proceed to the following level.
*Examinations are provided by the League of Soroban Education, America
*Additional fees will apply for examinations
